Here are some video clips from the Thursday night Sedaris reading. Sorry for the quality--I had to keep them relatively small for my dial-up friends. Videos graciously hosted by the folks at Putfile.

confessedly, i am in the crybaby camp. at least for this last year.
Posted by: steph at April 24, 2005 05:27 PMhey, jeremy, who is this Sedaris guy? Is he famous or something?
Posted by: Anthony at April 24, 2005 05:56 PManthony, yes, he's a literary "big-shot." he appears on This American Life regularly, and his books have sold hundreds of thousands.
Posted by: jeremy at April 24, 2005 08:44 PMI've been a fan of Sedaris for many years now. Thanks for sharing this. This American Life has archives online -- I visit regularly.
Posted by: William Sofield at April 25, 2005 05:25 AMooooooooh!! ok, thanks. Yeah, literature stuff is not my area, so I don't know much about that world. Can you recommend a book or his? I'm just not starting to read more fiction (I'm an information junky so I struggle to read things that do not have hard data in the text).
Posted by: Anthony at April 25, 2005 12:57 PManthony, Me Talk Pretty One Day is probably his most well-known book. He writes non-fiction, though it's an exaggerated form of the personal essay. He's more just telling funny stories based on real-life experiences.
Posted by: jeremy at April 25, 2005 02:43 PMWilliam, yeah, I'm a big fan of the archives. I often use them with my Creative Writing and Freshman Comp students.
Posted by: jeremy at April 26, 2005 12:27 AMbrilliant.
Posted by: emily at April 26, 2005 12:34 PMCool, thanks!
Posted by: Anthony at April 26, 2005 02:10 PMhey, jeremy-- i'm seeing d. sedaris on thursday (second time), and am so excited all over myself. i meant to get a stadium-pal (or rather, stadium-gal) so i don't miss a moment, but it just hasn't fit in to the budget.
and i saw ira glass his last time through, and it was very inspiring.
that is all.
